Amartha and Mandiri Capital Indonesia Host Financial Literacy Program and Free Eye Check-up

23 August 2025

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – The 2025 National Financial Literacy and Inclusion Survey reported that Central Java’s financial literacy index stood at 66.46 percent, lower than its financial inclusion index of 80.51 percent. This indicates that while residents actively use financial products and services, their understanding of how these products work and the risks involved remains limited.

To address this gap, Amartha, a digital financial services provider focused on rural communities, conducted a financial literacy class for women MSME partners in Jepara (22/8). Partnering with PT Mandiri Capital Indonesia (MCI), the venture capital subsidiary of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, the initiative also provided free eye check-ups and eyeglasses to more than 300 MSME partners using the AmarthaFin application.

Aria Widyanto, Chief Risk and Sustainability Officer of Amartha, said:
"The rapid growth of financial transactions and easier access to digital finance must be accompanied by knowledge and skills in financial management. This program serves both as risk mitigation and empowerment, enabling MSME partners to understand the benefits and risks of digital technology while optimizing the AmarthaFin app to strengthen their independence and competitiveness."

Echoing this vision, MCI emphasized the importance of reinforcing the digital financial ecosystem for MSMEs. These efforts aim to empower partners to grow sustainably, ensure business continuity, and build trust in digital financial services.

The program, themed “Merdeka Bersama: Waspada Fraud, Sehat Finansial” (“Independence Together: Fraud Awareness, Financial Health”), also featured traditional Independence Day activities, highlighting collaboration and community spirit.

Ronald Simorangkir, President Director of MCI, added:
"We believe health is a critical foundation for the independence and productivity of women MSMEs. Through this collaboration with Amartha, we provided free eye check-ups and eyeglasses for 300 women entrepreneurs as part of MCI’s commitment to supporting sustainable development, inclusive economic growth, and empowering healthy, productive women-led MSMEs."
